PLAY LEADERS
Playleaders are also recruited at the end of year 5. They undertake a 6 week training course designed to help them take a lead in the playground, in particular organizing playground games. At the end of this training they receive a recognised Young Leader Award. This is part of an initiative called Active Playgrounds, and play equipment for the playleaders to use and to give out to children was also given to school.
The first group were trained by Activity Sheffield, and Mrs Green also received training to enable her to take over this job.
LTS also did a course for which they received an award, to help them to support the playleaders on the playground. The children are identified by their red hats and t-shirts and also have a whistle. These children are also on a daily rota ( 15 children, 3 children a day) and have regular meetings with Mrs Green. |
